What do we need more than anything? LOVE!!! You must first love yourself dearly before you can have the capacity to love anyone else. You need to learn respect, give yourself guidelines and know what you are worth. Then and only then can you love people with the same respect and guidelines. It is the oldest saying in the world. Love one another as you would love yourself.
